Chasing Sunrise

One day he suddenly woke
In the last hour before dawn
A chance to chase the sun was on

Moving forward
He clutched his side
Pain shot up in every stride

He gasped for air
Breathed fast like there’s no tomorrow
No more time that he could borrow

He kept running
His heart pumped a different beat
He didn’t stop until it’s complete

A ray of light
Broke through the sky
The man let out an incredible sigh

“If only I knew
The sunrise was this beautiful
I would have taken all my strides in full”

Then every morning he rose
Moving gracefully
Through sunsets and goodbyes

His dream now alive
He claimed victory
Over the challenge of the sun

Push And Pull

Push and pull
How will this go
Hot and cold
Please let me know

Near and far
I’m at the bend
Right and wrong
When will this end

Light and dark
It’s getting rough
Freeze and thaw
I’ve had enough

Empty and full
My heart’s on track
Fear and love
I got myself back

Found this little poem I wrote last year in my drafts. Reading it again gave me the feels.
Get yourself back on track 🙂

Beyond Halfway

Beyond Halfway

There will be times
where you will fall a step
short of halfway.
That’s okay.
Remember those
who took an extra step
for you to get through.
Cherish the ones
who broke through their
own halfway to help you.
Celebrate each step beyond
the halfway point.
You’re getting there.

Don’t give up!
You’re getting there!

Sinagot Ng Pagmamahal – Answered By Love

Sinagot Ng Pagmamahal

Magka sugat-sugat man tayo

Kung pagod ka na
Ang alok ko’y kapahingahan
Lalaban ng magkasama
Hanggang malaman natin na
Wala pala ang sagot sa mundo
Kundi nakatanim ng malalim sa puso
Hindi na kailangan pang lumayo

Buksan ang iyong dibdib
Na napalambot ng paglalakbay
Ilabas lahat ng tanong
Sa tahanan ng iyong puso
Pakinggan mo at unti-unting huminahon
Tahan na, tahan na
Naririnig ka
Sinagot ka ng Pagmamahal

I don’t know the answers
To all the questions you have in life
But ask them anyway
I will listen to every word
I will remain through every tear
I’m here

Promise, you will always have a home in me
I will hold your hands
And be by your side to find the answers
Through every corner and every dead end
Even if we get wounded in the process

When you get tired
I offer myself as a resting place
We will fight our battles together
Until we realize that
The answer is not in the world
But planted deep within our hearts
We didn’t need to go far

Open up your chest
Softened by the journey
Let all your questions out
In the home of your heart
Listen and slowly calm down
It’s okay, It’s okay
You’re being heard
You were answered by Love

I originally wrote this tula (poem) in Filipino. I tried my best translating the words and feelings in English. I hope the message comes across the same. For the ones who have been searching for so long. For the ones who feels heavily burdened by with life. I hope that you find a home to come back to. Whether that home is a person or a place, I sincerely pray, especially as the year ends, that you come to a home where you are welcomed, appreciated, and loved. May each of us find our way home.

Until next time!

Breathe, Just Breathe

Put your hand upon your chest
Feel the beat of your unrest

Lay yourself gently on the bed
Calm the storm inside your head

Sing your favorite song to sleep
Remind the heart it’s okay to weep

Fill your lungs with brand new air
Warm the frozen soul with care

Let it go deep
Just Breathe

(Among) Us

I thought I knew you
I really do
I bet my life on your words
I followed you

We merrily went to the greenhouse
We watched the lilies grow
We fixed what’s down and broken
We had good laughs and fun

You suddenly went silent
You went down to mend a wire
You beckoned me to follow
You have set a perfect trap

Then everything went red
A knife pierced the back of my neck
Felt betrayed, angry, and shamed
Defeated with a laugh and a sneer on your face

Will I be able to trust again
My beloved pink friend
Sly impostor beware and watch
I’ll strangle you with lilies when the lights are out

Who Is Silence?

Silence keeps many secrets
She’s seen a lot of suffering
She’s held a heart breaking

Silence makes things hidden
She smiles despite the pain
She fights even if in vain

Silence draws attention
She can be loud and proud
She can win over a crowd

Silence chooses to be wise
She gives peace to warring minds
She sheds light to free the blind

Silence is treasured gold
Are you brave enough to hold her hand?
Can you keep still and be her friend?

Can you give Silence your last breath?

Possibility #365,143

A bit of a foreword. This little bundle of words made me laugh at how cheesy it came out but maybe the world needs some cheesiness right now. May the cheesiest and most audacious possibilities we dream about come true. Now pass the Parmesan please!

I can think up a million possibilities
Of how things will work out for us in the end
In some we end up getting lost, sad, and confused
in others we become indifferent to the needs of each other
Solace, all of them probably won’t happen

In all my anxious thinking about tomorrow
I found only one possibility that we can rely on
Possibility number three-six-five, one-four-three
It tells a future that carries a promise of love for every day
Where we’re held secure, no need to worry

Now I don’t need to think a million more
For I’ve decided to bet my hopes and dreams
On this possibility that I want to become reality
Let’s work together for possibility number three-six-five, one-four-three
It may not be perfect but we’re free

Thanks for reading! You’re the best!
I have a new article coming out of hiding for you guys real soon.

Oh and do take extra care these days 🙂
Stay home, stay healthy and keep safe!
